Step 1
Make work schedules for your staff members, taking into account all the hours the café is open. Give extra coverage to the busier hours and assist yourself when needed.
Step 2
Manage your employees. Hire, fire and train as necessary to keep the business running smoothly. Be available to answer questions, give extra training and even cover shifts when no-one else can.
Step 3
Monitor the café budget daily, making sure to balance the cash drawer and record tips and profits. Work with the owner - if you don't own the coffee shop - to keep your funds organized and books balanced.
Step 4
Clean the café and make sure your staff continues to clean up after using the machines. Comply with health and safety codes by following the cleaning instructions and ensuring that staff wash their hands and wear gloves when handling food.
Step 5
Manage vendors and keep track of inventory. Order coffee, tea and other flavors and food necessary for your café so you never run out of product.
Step 6
Advertise your products and merchandise your accessories to promote sales. As a manager you are in charge of pricing, food placement and specials. Be creative with your marketing - instate "employee drink of the month" contests and anything else to boost creativity and sales.
